once Kali Linux is installed on your computer, the next thing to do is to start configuring the operating system, for this, you have to start taking your first steps in the system. 

When you start using the distribution, you will find many things you can do, like change the configuration as you like.

However, in this case, we will walk you through the most basic and necessary aspects that you need to

configure when you start using Kali Linux, which we will explain below:

Connect your computer to an Internet network

If you are coming from installing Kali Linux on your computer, you are not connected to an Internet network,

keep in mind that this step is very important. In case you will establish the connection via ethernet,

it will be very simple because you only have to connect the network cable to the computer. 

Now if the connection will be made via WiFi, you need to select the icon located in the upper right corner of the screen, and a menu will appear.

In the menu you will find the option “Wireless not connected” with the Wi-Fi symbol,

this will indicate that your machine has no network connection yet. In order to connect to one, you need to click on this option so that two more options appear below,

there click on “Select network” so that you can choose the WiFi network you want to connect to.

Here you will see a window where you can find a list of all available wireless networks, select the one you want to connect to and click on “Connect”.  In the new window that appears, you have to enter the word de spend network in case he would be private and again in “Connect” after a few seconds, if you entered the passkey correctly, your computer will connect to the network.

Once these parameters are configured, click on the Get Started icon to begin the installation process of Kali Linux in VirtualBox.

Step 1 At the beginning of the process, we will see the following options, there we select the line 

Graphical installation and press Enter.

The system will restart and as soon as it loads we will define the installation language of Kali Linux:

Step 2 Click Continue and now we will select the geographic location, language, and keyboard language.

Again we click on Continue and the hardware analysis will be performed:

 4 Once this process is done, we will assign a name to the virtual machine:

Step 5 In the next window, we can enter the organization’s domain name, this step is optional so that if we don’t have one we can click Continue.

Step 6 By clicking on Continue now you will need to define the superuser password and confirm it:

In the next window the clock parameters will be configured, for which we must select the respective time zone:

Step 8 Once the time zone is defined, click 

Next and the window will appear in which we will configure disk partitioning, there we select the Manual line:

Step 9 In the next window we will select the disk we created during the virtual machine configuration process:

Step 10 Pressing on Continue The following message will be displayed in which

we will create the partition table on the disk, check the Yes box:

Step 11 Now in the next window, we will select the line FREE SPACE where the changes will be applied:

Pressing on Continue we will select the Create a new partition option :

In the next window we will have the option to partition the disk as needed:

We will define this partition as primary:

15 Finally, we will select the option

You are finished defining the partition:

Step 16 Pressing on Continue we will select the line Finish partitioning and write the changes to the disk:

Note It is important to partition the disk to create swap space.
